Female Artists Drive Momentum at Art Basel Hong Kong
From Louise Bourgeois to Suki Seokyeong Kang, women artists anchored the fair's strongest sales.

Alongside top-tier results for Marlene Dumas, Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin, women artists from across continents emerged as a defining force at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, driving momentum across every price segment rather than a single standout category. Lee Bul proved a particularly consistent draw Hauser & Wirth sold an untitled work from her 'Infinity' series for US$275,000 to a private Asian museum, while Lehmann Maupin reported multiple placements in the US$200,000 to $300,000 range, momentum reinforced by Bul's concurrent exhibition at M+. Suki Seokyeong Kang, Jadé Fadojutimi and Maria Taniguchi rounded out a roster of women artists whose sales this season outpaced expectations, a pattern dealers increasingly describe less as a passing trend and more as a structural shift in where serious collector demand is heading.
