Troye Sivan's fragrance and homewares brand released its first new scent of the year this past February with Volume 1, the follow-up to last August's Sage's Rose, which reportedly sold out following its debut.

The relatively spare, numbered naming convention Volume 1 rather than a more evocative, story driven fragrance name suggests the brand is positioning its releases as an ongoing, cumulative body of work rather than a series of standalone, individually themed launches.

Celebrity fragrance lines have historically split fairly cleanly into two categories: mass-market scents developed primarily to capitalise quickly on a star's existing fame, and a smaller number of more considered projects where the celebrity takes a genuinely active creative role in the fragrance's development and positioning. Sivan's brand, which pairs fragrance with homewares rather than positioning fragrance as a standalone beauty product line, reads closer to the latter category - built around a broader aesthetic and lifestyle sensibility rather than fragrance alone.

The sell-out success of Sage's Rose ahead of this year's Volume 1 launch suggests the brand has built genuine organic demand beyond Sivan's existing music fanbase alone, a meaningful distinction for a celebrity fragrance venture given how many such projects struggle to sustain interest much beyond an initial launch news cycle built primarily around the celebrity's name recognition.

For a category increasingly crowded with quickly-produced celebrity fragrance licensing deals, a slower-building, cumulatively-numbered release strategy suggests Sivan's team is deliberately positioning the brand for longevity rather than a single splashy launch moment.
