Jakarta Fashion Week Went Regional with its First Asean Parade
The 18th edition, built around 'The Legacy of Style,' put Singapore, Malaysia and Philippine designers on the same runway as Indonesia's biggest names.

Jakarta Fashion Week marked its 18th edition from 27 October to 2 November under the theme "The Legacy of Style," bringing more than 100 designers and fashion labels to Pondok Indah Mall 3 in a programme built explicitly around the dialogue between heritage and innovation
Established names including Auguste Soesastro, Rinda Salmun, Sapto Djojokartiko, Sebastian Gunawan and Toton showed alongside a substantial cohort of emerging labels, with heritage house BIN House drawing particular attention for infusing new vitality into the kebaya to make the traditional garment appeal to a younger generation.
The edition's most significant structural addition was the debut of the ASEAN Fashion Parade, a showcase bringing designers from Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines onto Jakarta's runway alongside its own national talent - a first for the event, and one that JFW chairperson and GCM Media Group CEO Svida Alisjahbana framed as central to the week's founding philosophy. "Jakarta Fashion Week has never stood alone," she said. "Since its inception, we have grown through collaboration, creativity, and sustainability. This year, through the spirit of The Legacy of Style, we unite senior designers, young creatives, and industry partners under one vision."
Now Southeast Asia's largest fashion event, JFW has increasingly positioned itself as a regional hub rather than a purely national showcase, and this year's ASEAN Fashion Parade debut makes that ambition structural rather than simply aspirational - a standing platform for the region's designers to show together, rather than a one-off cross-border collaboration.
