For much of her promotional run for Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, actress Sarah Pidgeon leaned into a form of method dressing, channelling the understated cool of the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy she plays on screen: an earth-toned Prada look during Milan Fashion Week, an all-black ensemble in New York.

At the 2026 Actor Awards on March 1, however, Pidgeon broke pattern entirely, arriving in a glamorous baby pink strapless gown with a mermaid-like silhouette, its volume exaggerated dramatically at the back and revealed to full effect on the red carpet. She paired the look with white pointed-toe heels and jewellery by Rahaminov Diamonds, hair styled in a low, polished ponytail. In interviews promoting the series, Pidgeon has spoken openly about how the costuming process designed by Rudy Mance helped her physically channel Bessette Kennedy's presence during filming, making the deliberate departure at the Actor Awards feel less like a contradiction than a release.

It's a neat illustration of how closely intertwined an actor's real-life red carpet identity can become with the character that made them famous — and how satisfying it can be to step outside it, even briefly.
