Resort wear in 2026 spans a wider range of garments than most travellers realise, but the season's defining shift is toward softness: delicate lace trims, silk-satin camisole styles and subtle lingerie-inspired detailing are being styled for daytime rather than reserved for evening.

White dresses are having a particularly strong moment this year, channelling a breezy Mediterranean aesthetic that reads as considered rather than costume-like.

Maxi dresses in lightweight linen or rayon remain the most versatile single item any traveller can pack, working equally well for a walk through a seaside village or a sunset cocktail hour.

The fitted tank or baby tee paired with wide-leg linen trousers has emerged as the unofficial uniform of the season, while a sheer button-up worn open over a tank, a lightweight linen blazer, or an oversized cotton shirt all serve double duty against the aggressive air-conditioning that tends to greet travellers the moment they step indoors. The broader shift reflects something beyond aesthetics: after years of hyper-visible, heavily styled vacation dressing built for social media, there's a growing recognition that the best resort clothing is simply what makes a traveller feel comfortable and like themselves.
