The Shoes Defining the Season, From Runway to Street

Fall/Winter 2026 is bringing structure back to footwear, from square toes and lace-up details to polished Mary Janes and heeled loafers.

Footwear is having a corrective moment. After years of oversized trainers and aggressively casual silhouettes, Fall/Winter 2026 is bringing polish back to the ground.

Current trend coverage points to five recurring directions: lace-up details, square toes, ruched construction, patent leather and heeled loafers. The common thread is structure. Shoes are becoming more deliberate again, with sharper shapes and richer surfaces doing the work once left to statement bags.

For Singapore, the question is how to translate those runway signals into a tropical wardrobe. A polished loafer can replace a sneaker for evening dressing without feeling formal. A square-toe flat works with wide trousers and a simple dress. Patent leather can introduce shine without requiring jewellery.

Ballet flats remain part of the conversation too, particularly softer versions and updated shapes. Their staying power is less about nostalgia than versatility.

The most useful way to approach the season is to think in terms of wardrobe architecture. One strong shoe can change the proportion of an entire outfit.

The message from the runways is clear: footwear is no longer merely functional punctuation. It is becoming one of the easiest ways to make a familiar wardrobe feel new.
